How to reach Hydra


Hydra is an island of the Saronic Gulf is located southwest of Athens and near the coast of the Peloponnese. It is 38 nautical miles from the port of Piraeus (Athens harbor).

1. Flying Dolphins - Catamaran
From the port of Piraeus are daily routes for Hydra. Travel time is approximately 1.45 Hour.
During the summer months the routes are increased.

2. By car via Peloponnese (to Μetochi Hermionid).
In Hydra cars are forbidden. Nevertheless you can reach till the opposite coast of Peloponnese which is Metochi.
With private or rented car you can arrive from Athens in E94 National Road (Athens to Corinth) then Epidaurus route, ending at Metochi Hermionid within 2 hours and 45 minutes. From the port of Metochi depart boats and water taxi to Hydra, arriving in about 25 minutes.

3. By helicopter
Hydra hasn’t heliport but often helicopters find a flat area to land and take off.

You also reach the Hydra with boats that make daily cruises and private yachts.
